On Saturday, January 18, 2003, the Optimist Club of Puslinch, once again, will be hosting a Robbie Burns Night. This is our sixth annual celebration, and there will be many of your favourite activities from previous years, plus several new experiences including the full participation of "Robbie Burns" himself. It is certain to be the social event of the season, and we will be celebrating in grand style!

The evening's program will comprise a traditional Burns meal (Scottish fare in authentic detail), celebration of the Immortal Memory - a stirring and entertaining presentation by Robbie Burns, Raconteur and Wit, and a Ceilidh - music, dancing and verse in the Gaelic style lead by popular Judy Greenhill and Relative Harmony.

New this year is a Single Malt tasting extravaganza, for the aficionados, not to be missed!
The Bill of Faire will include Haggis, as well as Cock a Leekie soup, Steak Pie, bashed neeps and crampit tatties, finishing with Scotch trifle. There will be wine of course, and other delectables will complete this sumptuous meal.

To set the tone for the evening, we shall be parading the Tartans of all Scottish Clans represented at the event. The wonderfully entertaining ceremony of addressing the Haggis will then follow. We shall offer the time honoured Toasts to the Lassies, the "Oulde Countrie" and "Our Adopted Land".

The stirring music of the "pipes", will contribute to the flavour of the evening, and will also accompany the dancing. Later, there will be opportunities for us all to "trip the light fantastic" in true Hie'land style. It promises to be an active and deeply moving experience for everyone who has ever wondered about being Scottish, and full half the world has been there.

There will be interesting and exotic prizes. The proceeds are to be dedicated to the many youth related activities which the Optimists support in our community - all worthy undertakings. The celebrations will be supported by a cash bar for those who might need additional fortification.
Dress the Part! - wear with pride your tartan, and even your kilt! Come and relive with us the remembrances of Scotland's National Bard, and celebrate the wonderful vitality of all things Scottish.

For those who would like to take advantage of this event for family, friends or business entertaining, we are happy to reserve complete tables of eight persons. Act soon as this event has been sold-out in the past!
